On September 10, 2025, Charlie Kirk was assassinated at a Utah campus. His death triggered the usual cycle of outrage and debate.
Sometimes I’ll notice a bunch of notifications and get excited, then see that it’s just my husband liking all the posts and notes he’s missed recently. After the initial disappointment, I think, well at least I have one true fan.
I heard on a podcast recently that no one reads short stories except other writers. Is this true? What do you think?

Don’t mind me, just crying over a beta reader saying one of my stories reminded her of Lois Lowry’s “Gossamer,” which I also love. And now that I’m thinking of it, realising that I’ve been unconsciously inspired by it. 😭 Thank you, Julia Wellham.
